Marc’Andria Maurizzi was born on May 16, 2007, in Bastia, France. In 2019, he won the French junior championship for players under 12 years old. In July of that year, he secured the IM title at age 12 years and two months.

He scored his first two GM norms in Catalonia. In December 2020, Maurizzi placed first at the open tournament in Sitges, and two months later he clinched his second norm in Barcelona. 

On May 21, 2021, Maurizzi secured his third GM norm at the GM tournament in Chartres. He also crossed the 2500 Elo mark and in doing so, he became the youngest French grandmaster in history at age 14 years and five days. He broke GM Etienne Bacrot’s 24-year-old record by almost two months.

Maurizzi won the 2023 World Junior Championship in Mexico City.
