Yu Yangyi, a distinguished Chinese chess grandmaster, has maintained a presence in the chess world since qualifying as a grandmaster at the young age of 14. His impressive journey began in Huangshi, Hubei, where his early interactions with chess paved the way for a career studded with significant achievements.
Among his greatest accomplishments are his three titles as the Chinese Chess Champion and his victory at the 2014 Asian Chess Champion, demonstrating his prowess on both national and continental stages. Yu also played a pivotal role in China’s gold medal-winning team at the 41st Chess Olympiad in 2014 and the World Team Chess Championship in 2015, earning an individual gold medal at the Olympiad with the highest performance rating of the event.
